Advances in Surgical Education - for Surgical Trainees and Family Doctors

A new standard in surgical education, this interactive video based surgical education program focuses on physical examination and diagnosis, risk management, operative procedures of a full range of ano- rectal conditions.

In this first volume conditions covered include: colon cancer, haemorrhoids, rectal prolapse, anal fissures, anal polyps, abscesses and fistula, warts, pilonidal sinus, anal tags/scc.

The surgeon marks up the patient including underlying structures and landmarks, undertakes anaesthesia and sedation, and comments throughout the surgical procedures.

An extensive quality assurance sections looks at risk management of each condition and a full range of options, (e.g. procedure or no procedure, operate immediately or wait and see, local v general anaesthetic; is explored, based on the needs of individual patients.

The title also contains principles of surgery, surgical anatomy and text and graphic based references on each condition covered.

Pre and post tests surround the entire presentation and each section also contains a test yourself section.

The program is based on a face to face session given by the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS) at the Clinical Skills Laboratory.

The ano rectal title is the first in a full surgical series covering all operative procedures.
